Hawaii. - Saturday 12th, Sunday, 13th, Monday,14th September.

SATURDAY 12th SEPTEMBER

I'm back. Been missing for a few days

Not a lot to talk about today. Watched the Ladies tennis finals, then went over to Ala Moana shopping complex and killed a couple of hours there, then back to unit and straight down to the beach for swimming. The water is so nice, you can just flop in to it and don't want to come out.

For those who are watching the Hawaiian weather and it says raining everyday this photo shows how all the rain stays west of us from Honolulu. We can sit here and see all the rain in the distance. Honolulu have been having flash floods. But as I say to PT I have noticed that the roads don't seem to have drains so no wonder they have all these flooding issues. Mind you this weather is very unusual, we have never seen it like this before. The rain hasn't really affected us except the day we went to Pearl Harbour.

SUNDAY 13th SEPTEMBER

Waited all morning for the US tennis men's final to start but was delayed due to rain. We didn't want to go out as we didn't know when it was going to start. It finally came on after lunch. I managed to get a quick swim first then watched the tennis all afternoon. I was going for Federer but unfortunately after a good fight of four sets he just missed out. We didn't feel guilty staying in watching tennis all afternoon as it rained on and off most of the day. It was raining when I popped down for a swim. That was our day. After me saying the rain hasn't affected us we did get a wet one today. Quite nice really helps to cool things down a bit.

MONDAY  14th SEPTEMBER.

Today is the day we change condos into another building across the road, the Ilikai Marina. We have stayed here before a couple of times in other units and we never liked it as much as the Ilikai Hotel. So we didn't know if we were going to be happy here. But when we walked into the unit it just had that nice homely feel, home away from home. Although it isn't all modern decor, it is so much more comfortable than the Ilikai Hotel unit. It has central air condition and fans which works really well. Moves the air around better than the split a/c in the last unit which seemed to blow on you.
This morning we packed up all our bags and we fortunately  got a late check out at 3.00pm as we couldn't get into the Marina until 4.00pm . We had asked Kama the owner if we could get in earlier but he wasn't sure at what time the cleaners would finish. Anyhow we didn't get a text so just sat in the Hotel foyer for just under an hour which wasn't any hardship as nice cool breeze was coming through.
Seeing we had until 3.00pm we went down to the beach for a few swims came back up for lunch, had final tidy up, relaxed with coffee on the deck before we left at 3.00pm
After we got over to the Marina unpacked the food and a few cloths then took off to the supermarket which is a good walk away, to stock up again. Only got what we could carry, but that was too much. Decided to wait for bus although we are only two stops away but that helped after a busy long day.
Finally got back to our unit at 7.00pm .put the food away got dinner on and sat down for a well deserved drink.
My first gin and tonic that's thanks to Bruce and Linda which they gave us along with a few of their left overs when they left. I even decided to buy a lemon. Boy that went down quick after a long hot day....

One last photo of our view in unit no 1908

Last coffee on our deck in unit  1908

The open air foyer of the Ilikai Hotel where we filled in our hour waiting to move on.

Looking out into the gardens near the restaurant.

PT waiting.

We have now arrived at the Ilikai Marina Condo. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised it looked so nice. Not modern decor but very homely and a lot more comfortable than the last condo. As these units don't have a large balcony. Too small to sit on  they have the two chairs in the foreground of this photo sitting by the ranchslider facing the view.  Kitchen right at the back. Will take photos of view tomorrow.

This one shows the two chairs facing the view. also nice having corner unit with the side windows. Bedroom over to the back right

Just got back from shopping. I am cooking dinner PT relaxing. Nice couch after the terrible one in the last unit.

Looking back to the kitchen

Looks a nice comfy bed again much better than the last ones

Not a new kitchen but all new appliances and well stocked with everything you need.

  1. I think the bathroom has been upgraded.
We are very pleased to be here it really is very comfortable. More like a home than a hotel room.
Will try and do the view photos tomorrow.
