SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER
Woke up to a perfect day but still very hot and humid. A nothing day so went shopping at all the labour day sales also tomorrow Monday a holiday. We went along to the Scetchers shoe shop but the shoes PT wanted they didn't have in his size and their shop at Waikele had one pair left so probably off there tomorrow as they are on at a good price. Buy one pair and get another pair for half price so we will get a pair each. Got back to base for lunch then down for a swim beautiful. After that off to the supermarket to stock up. A nothing day really.
I took this closer shot from our deck to show you where we walked yesterday Ala Moana Park. Far top left at the entrance to the boat harbour is where the photo of the chap fishing was where the big seas were coming over the break water. Then we continued around to the other side over of the trees where Ala Moana beach is.
Des this this Ala Moana food hall. Hardly recognised it. It has been all done up with white floor tiles and the white table and chairs. Very smart. Haven't tried the food yet.
MONDAY 7th SEPTEMBER
Our 42nd wedding anniversary in NZ (Tuesday 8th) but not till tomorrow here so have to wait another day to go out to dinner.
Just on the road side of the Ilikai building taken from the bus stop waiting to go out to Waikele. The trip out there took one hour then had to wait about half an hour for our transfer bus. Not as easy as having a car like we used to do in the past years. So hot in this big shopping complex inland so no breeze at all. This is where all the outlet shops are as well. Got our shoes , PT went to a hardware shop that he knew of but they didn't have what he wanted. Had a bite to eat for lunch then got the bus all the way back to Waikiki. Instead of waiting for the transfer bus to take us back to the stop where we picked up out express bus back to Waikiki we walked it as we didn't want to wait ages and miss the express bus which only goes through every hour due to public holiday today. We kept saying to each other will we get there in time and we could then see the bus in the distance at the bus stop. We started to run then the bus took off , thinking that we had missed it we stopped running. As it was coming towards us the lady bus driver realised that we wanted to catch it so at the traffic lights which fortunatly for us they turned red and the driver was waving to us to keep running and she let us on board at the lights. Thank goodness as we certainly didn't want to wait another hour. Got back to Hotel at 3.30pm exhausted, not used to running after buses.
Got back in time to watch Bruce and Linda's plane going past the hotel at 4.00pm turning towards NZ. Taken from our balcony. We heard the captain talking to the Honolulu base and also followed it on Flightradar. Ther re on their way home today their holiday is over. We enjoyed their company for the week they were here after they had done an Island cruise around the Hawaiian Islands for a week.
Sitting on our deck having a NZ Anni drink just as the sun had gone down. Gets dark here early for Summer about 6.30pm. First day of Autumn here tomorrow but that won't change the weather. Not much change all year round.
Just realised I haven't sent any photos out front where we go swimming just around to the left of the boat harbour out of sight from our room. Will do that over the next couple of days. Also we heard on the news tonight that there have been a lot of jellyfish swimming around Waikiki to Ala Moana so will have to be carefully about them.
We aren't really doing enough to send blog every day so that's why I have missed sending some days days.
